The last day in Thailand I planned to spend the day trip to the city of Ayutthaya, about 80 km to the north of Bangkok. Ayutthaya is a historic town which became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai kingdom. The town was founded in the year 1350 AD, and reached its peak in the 14th century to 18 BC. In its heyday, Ayutthaya became the largest cosmopolitan city in the world and became the center of diplomacy and global trade.
Location Ayutthaya deliberately chosen because of its strategic location on an island surrounded by three rivers that connects the city to the sea. In addition, the location was selected because it is located above the high tide Gulf of Siam at that time, thereby preventing the city was attacked by warships of other nations who use the sea route. This location can also help protect the city from seasonal flooding.
Unfortunately in 1767, the city was attacked by the Burmese kingdom were then burned and destroyed buildings Ayutthaya to be debris and forced the residents to leave the city. Kingdom of Siam never again to rebuild the city and currently Ayutthaya be comprehensive archaeological sites.
Administratively, currently located in the district of Ayutthaya Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. In 1991 the city of Ayutthaya crowned one of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Criteria Historic City of Ayutthaya, is an important witness future development of art and culture of Thai national. The total area is 289 hectares of World Heritage.
In the morning, when you wake up, I get a message from Richard and Ms. Tina that night they were almost late plane because mepetnya arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Fortunately, they were assisted by airport employees who prioritize them for immigration, customs, to deliver them to the gate to board the plane. They also informed that Winis phone is lost; the last Winis says he use the phone while resting at a cafe after Madame Tussauds or when lunch. Because these two places open at around 10:00, then after a shower I went back to sleep waiting for the place to open.
My initial plan was to Ayutthaya by train from Hua Lamphong station this morning, with an hour long journey. But because of this progress, I had to compromise. When I woke up again, it turns the clock is 10:30, I immediately packed up and check-out. My first goal is the Oasis Restaurant in MBK Mall. After I asked the cashier, he then asked to colleagues and to the kitchen, there are no items left behind yesterday. I decided to have lunch at this restaurant.
Because it is not left behind in the first place, then I promptly to Coffeol at Siam Discovery. I went straight to the waiter to inquire into whether there is cell phone left behind in this cafe, the waiter smiled and invited me to meet with the manager of the cafe. Thankfully, the phone is left in this cafe. After a brief identity checks (the manager of the cafe had a chat with a girlfriend Winis), the phone is restored. I also thanked him profusely.
Because flights to Jakarta at 21:00 pm, I had been given a deadline until 13.00. If a cell phone lookup takes over from it, then I fail to Ayutthaya. Fortunately, the phone was found at 12.00, I still have time for a half-day trip. Because it is no longer possible to Ayutthaya by train, I compromised by going there wearing a minivan. Terminal is located in a minivan around Victory Monument. I was there wearing Siam BTS Skytrain station. Somewhat difficult to locate the minivan to Ayutthaya many minivans that offer to other destinations, and almost all use signs with the inscription Thai. Fortunately, I heard the driver shouting Ayutthaya and I was soon rise. Before leaving, the driver picked up the minivan fare is 60 Baht.
