A traveler is the owner of the online travel diary website. They are
responsible for uploading diary entries, updating diary website pages,
responding to their public and private messages and accepting or rejecting new
viewer requests.
A Viewer is an interactive invited family member or friend of the traveler.
They can post and reply private and public messages and view and rate diary
entries.
A guest is a non-interactive visitor that is accessible by the public. A
guest can only view your travel diary website and post you messages on your Private Message Board, similar to that of a 'Guest Book'. A guest can not post messages on your Public Message Board or rate any of your photos. It is at the
discretion of the traveler to enable their guest account.
Simply click on the Forgotten Your Password link found on the main page. You will be required to enter your Traveler's name and your Viewer name. Your password will then be sent to the
associated email address on record.
You can change or update your personal details at any time. Simply log in to
your account then from the menu click Account Details. Please note; the only personal details that can be changed are your Email Address and your Password. Travelers, however can also change their travel diary website access password and MMS related information.
Yes, simply disable the disruptive viewer. You can do this in a couple of ways; either go to your Site Details page where you select the appropriate viewer to be disabled. Alternatively, you can do this from the appropriate viewers Private Message Board. The viewer will then not be able to log in. Please note that when you have selected to disable a viewer their account has not been deleted it will return to your welcome page as a request to join. From here you can select NO which will then bar their entry.
Should you wish, you can also change your Access Password so that if the disruptive viewer tries to rejoin your travel diary website they will not be able to.
Reasons for this can be varied. The first thing to note is that eTravelDiary is best viewed with Internet Explorer version 5.0 and higher.
Reasons.
1) Sharing Viewer And Traveler Accounts
Our advanced security system inherently only allows one user to be logged in to a viewer or traveler account at any one time. This means if you log in to a viewer or traveler account and your friend then logs in to the same account, your session will expire. The exception to this is the ‘Guest’ account, where multiple simultaneous users can have access to a ‘Guest’ account.
Solution
Users who are sharing a viewer account should simply sign up for their own viewer account.
2) Access with Multiple IP addresses
Some ISP’s dynamically allocate IP addresses to their clients. This generally isn’t an issue but in some extreme cases the allocated IP address can change during an eTravelDiary session. When this happens the user may be logged out of their session. eTravelDiary requires a fixed IP address throughout the session. How can you tell if your IP address is being altered?
Record the IP address below:
Your Current IP address:- 38.103.63.16
Refresh the page and check if the IP address remains the same. (Repeat this a few times to make sure)
Solution
-Get a fixed IP address for your eTravelDiary session.
-In some cases it might be possible to press back on the browser and try to reload the page.
-Try accessing eTravelDiary through a different browser.
To aid with a solution to this problem, eTravelDiary will attempt to add a cookie to your browser on login. If a varying IP address is detected, eTravelDiary will attempt to access it's cookie for validation. Therefore enabling cookies for eTravelDiary will correct a varying IP address access problem.
3) Session Time Limit
As a security precaution, eTravelDiary has imposed a three hour session time limit. A traveler or viewer can only be logged in for a maximum period of three hours. This limit should be adequate enough to perform any desired tasks.
4) AOL Browsers
eTravelDiary has been known to incorrectly operate when using some versions of the AOL browser.
Solution
Try accessing eTravelDiary through a different browser.
We hope one of the above suggestions is the remedy you were after. If not please contact us at Support@eTravelDiary.com. Or alternatively click the Contact eTravelDiary link and send us your specifics.
eTravelDiary supports most image formats. Our advanced scripts can
handle all image sizes.
Please note your image will be automatically resized for proper Internet use.
This will depend on your Internet connection and the size of the pictures you are uploading.
Only viewers you accept can view your travel diary website. If you have activated your 'Guest' account, the general public will have access to your travel diary website. The 'Guest' account is in many ways non interactive. Guest Viewers can post messages on the Private Message Board, similar to a 'Guest Book'.
MMS or mobile messaging service is a new technology offered by most mobile phone vendors.
MMS compliant mobile phones have the capability to take pictures, record sounds, enter text and compile emails to send.
Using MMS, a traveler will have the ability to post new diary entries via their MMS compliant mobile phone.
Simply register your mobile phone number and/or mobile phone email address with eTravelDiary on your Account Details page and then send any MMS messages to mms@eTravelDiary.com, eTravelDiary takes care of the rest by posting the new diary entry directly to your travel diary website for all viewers to see.
Please consult your specific mobile phone vendor documentation for more information on composing multimedia email messages.
Please note; your mobile phone must have access to a compliant MMS network.
eTravelDiary does not charge you for the MMS service. All costs associated with the MMS service
are directly reliant on your mobile phone service provider. Please consult your mobile phone service provider documentation for all associated costs.
Please note, posting diary entries to your travel diary website via MMS will consume account space, once account space has been exceeded, your travel diary website will no longer accept
MMS diary entry postings. It is for this reason that eTravelDiary recommends checking account details on a regular basis, and free up space when required.
You need to go into your Account Details and click on the Enable
guest Account button. Then return to your Welcome Page and
accept the guest request to join your online diary website.
Remember, if your viewer capacity has been reached this option will not be
available.
eTravelDiary does support some basic emoticons for use on the message boards. They are -
- :) -------

- :( -------

- ;) -------

- :P -------

- :o -------
